Anything that is around 2000 years old and is alive is worth visiting, okay? Anything. Look at this dude:

I honestly don’t know how it doesn’t have a name, I’d call him Oliver, of course. Old Oliver the olive tree. Believed to have been struck by lightning once during its life, Ollie is about 4 meters wide at the waist which, they believe, makes him a couple of millenia old. It’s insane. He’s older than most countries around it, tenfold.

On our last day in Croatia we’re at Lun, Pag’s northmost settlement, the furthest and stickiest of all the sticks you ever said it was “in the sticks” about. There is however a group of people among those, whose families own most of the land and the trees here, who want to present the grove as the big deal that it actually is. Partially funded by the EU, this olive tree society are the people who would show you around and make the tourist part of the thing presentable and worth visiting.

We are driven around in a golf car, and it’s actually super interesting to see and hear about. I’m not telling you more, just come and see for yourself, they are expecting you!

Also, when you’re enjoying your milk shakes down at the village, make sure you know how you will be paying for your drinks. You don’t want to be driving up and down the road in search of a shady ATM, where it will cost you your life savings to get some cash out.
