All right, all right! Now, that’s some real tourism, finally! Just kidding, it’s all been great so far, but Split is still Split – a bigger destination for tourism, former home of emperor Diocletian and marvel of the old world.
Modern pop-culture did a bit of a number on the place, some locations having been used for shooting the Game of Thrones saga. Now it’s GoT this and GoT that, but, well – if it wasn’t that, it would’ve been something else.
Cellars of the former palace are more or less the only thing that is left from it and conveniently that’s also where they kept the dragons in King’s Landing, so we take a peek. Nice cellars, what can one say.
The town, just as its younger brother Trogir, is charming and overcrowded. Still charming, though. We park the car after circling around the one-way street center, walk for a bit, find a place to eat (both found and financed by Simon this time, yay!), eat, walk some more and finally get a bit frustrated with the crowds, heat and scarcity of places to do something else than buy food and eat. After resting for a short while we decide to climb up the staircase/path in the city park, and that is a truly pleasant place where there’s a cafe with some beers that can heal all and any frustrations.
